We currently have an outstanding career opportunity for an Electrical Engineer.  The incumbent will apply scientific methodology to investigate the failures of materials, components, products and structures. The Electrical engineer will be called upon to isolate the specific reason or reasons a product, device or substance failed in order to improve the longevity or performance of the product or to improve its safety profile. Forensic Engineers often are used in product liability cases, a type of civil court case, and, occasionally, criminal cases, to investigate and testify about the source of a product's, design's or object's failure.


  • Investigates the cause and origin of failures, damages or defects in the electrical fields within industrial, residential, and commercial sites. Analyzes the failure of electrical systems, determines the cause of the accident, determines the causes or origins of fires or explosions, evaluates the quality of construction or reviews design or maintenance procedures.
  • Participates in the catastrophes response such as hurricanes, tornados, floods, and earthquakes.
  • Prepares accurate, clear, thorough, and concise reports and letters outlining the cause and origin of the damages to clients. Follows established policies, procedures, and processes in preparing information, exercising sound judgment in applying these to potentially unusual or complicated situations, and submits reports and documents in a timely manner and in accordance with client’s standards and expectations.
  • Provides expert testimony via depositions or in a court of law as required.
  • Develops client relationships by providing and maintaining the company’s high standard of customer service and client communications. Interacts with clients and works with local and national marketing managers to establish and grow relationships.
  • Stays abreast of office and company policies, procedures, and practices; participates in ongoing training and development as assigned or approved to assure knowledge and skills remain current and comprehensive.
  • Functions as an effective member of the team, assisting co-workers as needed and learning from colleagues and supervisors; supports the goals of the department, division, and organization; participates in special assignments and activities as required or approved; demonstrates initiative in the interest of the client and the organization.

Maintains the confidentiality of proprietary and sensitive information, exercising sound judgment and discretion in any disclosure of information related to EMA and its endeavors.
  • Adheres to all applicable federal, state, and local laws as well as applicable regulations and standards.


  • Baccalaureate degree in Electrical engineering or a related discipline is required.
  • Significant experience as a professional engineer is required.
  • 7+ years experience evaluating electrical failures in a commercial or industrial setting preferred.
  • Power systems experience (generators, transformers, high voltage switchgear, etc.) and/or utility experience is a plus.
  • Fire experience is an asset.
